Our website provides information about AA, local meetings, District activities and ways to contact us. You do not need to identify yourself to browse meeting information.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the website, we may receive:

Providing contact details is voluntary. Without a suitable contact method, we may be unable to reply or arrange the assistance you request.

We use information to respond to enquiries, provide requested meeting or service information, administer activities, protect the website and meet applicable legal duties.
Where an enquiry requires assistance from another trusted servant, we may share the necessary details privately with the appropriate service role. We limit sharing to the service purpose.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information or use enquiry details for unsolicited marketing. Visiting this website does not constitute consent to unrelated uses of your information.
Privacy and AA anonymity
An enquiry, photograph, message or contact record may reveal someone’s connection with AA. We treat this information with particular care.
Please do not submit another person’s AA affiliation, recovery information or photograph without appropriate permission. Information supplied privately for assistance is not intended for public publication.

How long we keep information
We keep personal information for the period needed to respond to an enquiry, carry out the relevant service or meet a legal record-keeping requirement.
The District’s adopted Personal Information Protection Policy governs retention, review and disposal. Records that are no longer needed should be securely deleted, destroyed or anonymised. Contact the Information Officer if you need information about the retention of a particular record.
Protecting information
Our adopted policy requires appropriate access limits, secure storage, backups and handover arrangements for District records, including records handled on personal or AA-owned equipment.
We use website security controls to reduce unauthorised access and misuse. No internet service can guarantee complete security. Please contact us promptly if you believe information has been exposed or sent to the wrong person.
Your rights
Subject to POPIA’s conditions and applicable legal duties, you may:

request access to personal information we hold about you;

request correction of inaccurate information;

request deletion of information we are no longer entitled to keep;

object to certain processing or withdraw consent where we rely on it.
We may need to verify your identity before releasing or changing a record. We will request only the information appropriate to that verification.
